"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" clocks in at 1hr 35min?!
Ok, so for those of you who haven’t seen the new <dragontattoo.com> site, it was recently updated with the rating, runtime, and genre for the film. The film will be rated R, which is a given considering the nature of the book (I can’t wait to see the grittiness of the film!). The genre is Drama/Thriller (which is obvious). Last, and certainly least, the runtime for the film is 1 hour and 35 minutes long. Yes… 95 minutes total. What is that?!
I mean, the fact that David Fincher is directing it, Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig are cast as the main characters, and that Reznor & Ross are scoring it still has me pretty freaking excited to say the least, but why is the film a total of 95 minutes long? I really hope this is a mistake on Sony/Columbia’s part, because I doubt that the book’s plot can be successfully layed out in 95 freaking minutes. I mean, the Swedish adaption of the film clocked in at about 152 minutes, or 180 for the extended version… AND THEY SUCKED!! (Well, they sucked because the writer and director did a really bad job of adapting the book into a movie, but still, 152/180 minutes is a lot of time to play with.)
Then again, something tells me that the runtime is a mistake/typo considering that Fincher’s films average about 133 minutes (yes, I counted).
I don’t know. I just hope that this gets to Mouth Taped Shut or that someone passes a link to Sony Pictures, because I’d really love for this to be cleared up. Are you guys fine with the 95 minute runtime?
