Before David Fincher was tied to music videos and commercials, he was helming cameras for Richard Marquand and George Lucas’ Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi.
29 years and 8 successful motion pictures later (not including Alien 3 which Fincher distances himself from), the Academy Award nominated director is now a part of the growing list of potential directors who might bring the upcoming Star Wars sequel to the screen. As of now, the current front runner for the position is X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn, who not too long ago dropped from directing the X-Men: Days of Future Past sequel.
As for Fincher, his next project is House of Cards, an upcoming political drama set to premiere February 1st on Netflix. It will star Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, and Kate Mara. To read Fincher’s interview about his experience on working on Return of the Jedi, click here.
